I have been lucky enough to have travelled the world widely, both by personal endeavour and work. Where possible I tried to visit countries before they became changed by tourism and over the years managed to do this in many places. In fact, some of these countries are unlikely to ever become tourist destinations.
During my travels I travelled through and worked in India for a while, as well as Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka, where I developed a love of Indian food, and subsequently became one of the principal restaurant reviewers for the Curry Club and Good Curry Guide, often visiting three different Indian restaurants a week. I also acted as a Regional Judge in the National Curry Chef competition for three years. This background probably explains why my reviews are often less enthusiastic than some about pleasant but fairly typical Indian restaurants.
I still love to travel, but age and the gradual onset of decrepitude means that I now do so in more comfortable circumstances.
