Since Feb 2004

65+ year old male

Los Angeles

I'm a retired professional who can now afford the time and money to be on the road, domestically or abroad, for five to six months every year. While I do "splurge occasionally," in my most recent travels I have looked for really inexpensive lodgings, just to see what's out there. I had a really lovely lodging in Bogata for $30/night, private but with shared bath. In Cuenca Ecuador I found a room for $5/night with shared bath, and then upgraded the next night to one with a private bath for $8.00. I am on a trip now (spring 2016) that will bring my country total to 44 or 45, and I have seen all 50 states of the U.S. I have personally driven through all 48 lower states since 2007, many several times. And I have added the Atlantic provinces of Canada, and rural Ontario and Quebec to my road-trip experiences.
